Prepare to Teach

A ‘taster’ course for those considering secondary teaching as a career. The course offers flexible start and finish time, a short school placement , a school facilitator and tutor support.

At the end of the course participants should know whether they are temperamentally suited to be teachers and whether there are any gaps in their subject knowledge.

The subjects currently offered are:
Mathematics, Science, Modern Foreign Languages, Design and Technology, Cymraeg.

The Cardiff School of Education Profile

One of the largest providers of initial teacher training in the UK.

In January 2001, all courses received the designation “Excellent”.

Partnerships exist with over 100 secondary schools and 300 primary schools in S.E.Wales.

The School of Education has a growing reputation for its Professional Development Courses and for educational research.

Massive investment in the City, the regeneration of its docks into a superb waterfront and general interest in all things cultural, from its music scene to the National Assembly, mean that Cardiff is rapidly earning its place as an exciting European destination and an excellent place to be a student.

The Cyncoed Campus includes student accommodation, student services and extensive grounds and sports facilities (including the National Indoor Athletics Centre). The ‘ UWIC Rider ‘…. UWIC operates a bus service for students, from Monday to Saturday, 8.00am to midnight, providing safe and cheap transport to and from the University campus and the city centre.

UWIC was proud to be awarded the Charter Mark of Excellence in 2001, for a third three year period.
