The School of Education - Profile
""

The School is situated on the Normal Site which has its own education library where there is an extensive range of bilingual primary and secondary teaching resources, its own sports facilities, undergraduate halls of residence and bar.

The North Wales Teacher Training Partnerships are well established and Partnership schools across north Wales provide a supported learning environment for student teachers. All Secondary schools are equipped with e-mail conferencing facilities to enable student teachers to keep in contact with and to have additional support from each other and their tutors while on School Experience.

The courses were praised by the last Government Inspection.

The School has well qualified and experienced bilingual staff who are also involved in research and in curriculum and professional development.

Additional financial support is available from the School for all courses to help with costs incurred during School Experience.

The School attracts around 280 postgraduates and 140 undergraduates each year.

University Profile
""

The Bangor University was established in 1884 and has always put great emphasis on maintaining excellence. Situated close to the rugged mountains of Snowdonia and with the sea on our doorstop, Bangor must be one of the most attractive study locations in the UK. We pride ourselves on our friendly and caring atmosphere.

The city of Bangor has a swimming pool, theatre, cinema, art gallery, the Museum of Welsh Antiquities together with two modern shopping centres. The Students’ Union is a focal point for nightlife but there is also a good variety of pubs, restaurants and café-bars in Bangor.

Bangor is easily accessible with good road links to the M6; we are only 2 hours by train from Manchester and 4 hours from London. The high speed ferry from Dublin to Holyhead takes only 99 minutes!

The cost of living in Bangor is relatively low and all first year undergraduates are guaranteed a place in a hall of residence within walking distance of the university.
