A ‘returners’ course for qualified primary and secondary teachers who wish to begin teaching in a secondary school or return to the
secondary classroom.
The course offers updating of skills and subject knowledge, confidence building, a short school placement ad tutor support.

Prepare
to teach

A ‘taster’ course for those considering
secondary teaching as a career. The course offers flexible start and finish time, a short school placement , a school facilitator and tutor support.
At the end of the course participants should know whether they are temperamentally suited to be teachers and whether there are any gaps in their subject knowledge.
The subjects currently offered are:
Mathematics, Science, Modern Foreign Languages, Design and Technology, Cymraeg.

260 graduates are trained each year on both primary and secondary PGCE programmes.
Teacher experiences are offered in local schools and throughout Wales, urban and rural, large and small.
The University welcomes mature applicants. Child care, after school clubs and holiday play schemes are available.
The quality of training was classed as of high quality by the recent HM Inspectors' Report.

Aberystwyth provides a warm welcome to over 7,500 student from over 90 countries, giving the university and town a very cosmopolitan feel, whilst being located at the edge of the Snowdonia National Park and the Pembrokeshire National Park, Britain's only coastal National Park.
